Cloud Sync

With Cloud Sync, you can keep selected databases synchronised across multiple devices, iPhones, iPads and Android devices, Windows and Mac. For example, if you save or change a WP or a route on one device, this is immediately uploaded to the cloud, with which the other devices synchronise, so that everyone is always on the same data status.

First make sure that you are logged in with your QV-Shop account. All devices that want to synchronise with each other must be logged in with the same QV-Shop account and require a power user licence.

Activate Cloud Sync with the Activate button.

Then select the databases you want to synchronise from the list by clicking on the checkbox. The sync status is displayed for each database:

OnlyLocalNotCloud This database is only available on the device and not in the cloud. It is not synchronised.
OnlyCloudNotLocal This DB is only in the cloud, but not on the device. It is not synchronised.
LocalIsNewer This DB is on the device and in the cloud. It is not yet synchronised. The newer version is on the device.
CloudIsNewer This DB is on the device and in the cloud. It is not yet synchronised. The newer version is in the cloud.
InSync This DB is on the device and in the cloud. It is synchronised. Cloud and device are in the same state.

Changes that you make on your own device are uploaded immediately. The other way round, i.e. checking whether other devices have changed anything, is done automatically every 10 minutes. If there are changes, they are downloaded immediately, imported into the database and a corresponding message is displayed. The interval can be freely selected.

The sync log is located in the lower half of the page. Every action is logged here, with new events always being added to the top of the list.

You can use the buttons at the bottom to skip automatic syncing and sync immediately. This is not normally necessary. Syncing runs fully automatically.

This list only shows databases that are already in the cloud. To load a new database into the cloud for synchronisation, open the properties of this database and activate Keep synced with cloud. The DB icon in the Xplorer then gets a small “cloud”:

Notes

  • The standard databases My Data, GPSOnlineLogs, Shared Positions and Online Maps cannot be synchronised. So first create your own new database.
  • The cloud is located on the QV server, which is operated by DomainFactory in a European data centre in accordance with the latest security standards. The devices communicate with the cloud using the secure SFTP protocol.
  • Syncing requires a power user licence.
  • Sync with QV7 will not be available.
  • All devices involved must display the same time. Ideally, all devices should be set to automatic time setting.
  • Each QV user has approx. 100MB of storage space available on the QV server as part of the power user licence. The current usage is displayed in the app. More storage or a cloud on your own server is available on request for a separate charge.
  • QuoVadis Software GmbH cannot guarantee that this service will always be available without restrictions or errors. No liability is accepted for any loss of data due to failures, malfunctions or errors.
