Exchange with QVM

QVX and QVM use the same database format SQLite, so the databases are directly interchangeable. There are several possibilities for this:

  • QVM-A: in QVX-Xplorer, if the Android is connected via USB
  • QVM-A: on file level with the Windows-Explorer directly copy from/to Internal shared memory > QVM_Data > DBs
  • QVM-I: In QVX-Xplorer via FTP connection
  • QVM-I: only into the device at file level with iTunes, then QMV-I - database - import/export - import
  • all: in QVX-Xplorer with DropBox or Onedrive
  • all: as email attachment
  • all: via QV-NetDrop, this is the simplest variant.

Limitations result naturally from the different functionalities.

For example, the Sketch function does not (yet) exist in QVX, so sketches assigned to a waypoint in QVM cannot (yet) be displayed in QVX. However, they will not be lost.

Conversely, links from QVX cannot be processed in QVM, because the function does not exist in QVM. Therefore no linked files are transferred. However, the links are not lost, they are just not evaluated.

Tools for iOS

We looked at the App Syncios. They are available for free for Mac and for Windows.

This allows you to copy QVM databases to the QVM_Data/DBs folder in an iOS device connected via USB cable.

  • Connect iPhone or iPad with QVM-I via USB cable to Mac or PC
  • End QVM-I on the device
  • in the App Syncios click on Apps and search for QuoVadis Mobile in the list
  • then click on the icon **Open App Document

  • then go to the folder Documents/QVM_Data/DBs
  • now you can exchange the databases with the PC simply by drag&drop or with Im/Export

Note: the App Syncios is not from QuoVadis Software Gmbh. It is a product of a Chinese software company. Therefore use it at your own risk and peril. We mention it here anyway, because in our experience it does a good job and fills a real gap.
