Map window

In the map window you can see your data, correctly marked geographically, on maps of your choice.

The map window consists of the following components:

  • Cursor: set by clicking with the left mouse button, a lot of information about the place will be displayed in the magenta box
  • Mouse pointer: every time the mouse is moved, the coordinates under the mouse pointer and the distance to the cursor are displayed in the red box
  • Scale: shows the scale of the current view, and the length of the yellow box.
  • Map selection: displays additional information or loads another map
  • Edit: Tools to edit tracks, routes and waypoints on the map
  • Zoom: Changes the view (the easiest way to zoom is with the mouse wheel)

Moving around the map

Keys 1, 2, 3, 4, c zooms around cursor
Tools +, -, 1 zooms around cursor
Mouse wheel zooms around mouse pointer
Moving with mouse while holding down the left mouse button

If the map section changes, QVX must load the new areas first. This can take more or less time. Especially for online maps, which have to be loaded from the internet. To let you see what QVX is doing, there is a progress bar at the bottom that counts down to 0:
