Files and folders

QVX stores all user data in the folder “QVX_Data”.

By default, this is located in the public documents directory under Windows, i.e. c:\Users\Public\Documents\QVX_Data\ or in the home of the corresponding user for macOS, e.g. /Users/Tom/QVX_Data.

Included are the following subdirectories:

Cache Caches for the online maps
DBs Own databases, are displayed in XPlorer under QV-Data
Downloads Here you can find QVX updates and map packages after download, can be deleted at any time
Export Standard folder for export
Import Standard folder for import
Logs Logs, diagnostics, txt files
Maps Standard folder for new maps
Packages Standard folder for new packages
Routing Folder for QMR routing databases
Temp Internal use

And these ini files:

qvx.ini User settings, can be deleted to reset the settings
qvxuser.ini Connected directories and cloud services with login data, can be deleted to reset the settings
qvxshop1.ini The licenses purchased by users in the QV-Shop, if this file is missing, you have to login again in QVX under Account and synchronize with the QV-Shop, which requires an internet connection.
qvx_data_user.ini Optional, reference to another QVX_Data folder, see below

Moving QVX_Data folder

If you want, you can move the QVX_Data folder to another location, e.g. to another hard disk. It must be moved as a whole, complete with all files.

After that QVX must be informed where the folder is located. To do this, write the path of the new folder in a text file and store it as qvx_data_user.ini in the default QVX_Data folder.

So when QVX starts, it first looks in the default QVX_Data to see if there is a qvx_data_user.ini. If not, the system starts with the default QVX_Data. If so, the folder specified in the qvx_data_user.ini is used as default QVX_Data. If it does not exist, an error occurs and QVX quits. If this folder is empty, QVX starts as a new installation without activations and with empty default databases.

Example qvx_data_user.ini
Windows: E:\Data\QVX_Data
Mac: /Volumes/Data/QVX_Data
